From Rome to Rio is a musical journey moving between classic jazz and bossa nova and sweeping Latin rhythms, at the Music Center in Tel Aviv. Three singers, a women's choir and a jazz ensemble including trumpet, acoustic guitar and percussion will perform beloved songs and hits from Italy, France, Spain and Latin America, by candlelight of hundreds of candles. The evening opens with the Italian magic of Quando, Quando, Quando, the playful rhythm of Mambo Italiano and the bursting joy of Volare. With One Note Samba we dive into the elegant sounds of Brazilian bossa nova, and Mas Que Nada brings a sweeping Latin energy into the hall. The Cuban classic Quizás, Quizás, Quizás meets the French chic of Mon Homme, and with Bamboleo it will already be hard to stay in your seat. But beyond all the songs and rhythms, this is an evening that celebrates everything that makes jazz so alive and special: the spontaneity, the freedom, the passion and the enjoyment in music. Music young in spirit, rich in talent and beautiful. The musical journey will take us to Buenos Aires, Rio, Havana and Naples, and from there we'll continue through Mexico City and Madrid back to bustling Tel Aviv, steeped in the salty spray of the Mediterranean Sea. Because this Latin America has an Israeli soul and an Israeli voice. Performers: on stage, three singers, three voices, three styles and a unique character for each: Sofi Chudnovsky, Alexandra Cheskaya and Nomi Cross. Alongside them will appear a band of musicians including piano, double bass, drums, percussion, acoustic guitar and trumpet. The band members come from the theaters, the philharmonics and Israel's leading jazz scene. A special guest who will give the concert an extra dimension is the women's choir Kolot Telma, conducted by Maria Talnov Arber. The choir's multi-voice singing will reveal new layers in the familiar songs and give them additional color and depth. Doors open: 19:00. It is recommended to arrive early — a bar with drinks and snacks will be operating on site.
