Straight from New York to the Shablul Club comes pianist Yiftach Kariv, leading an impressive octet of top musicians from the front rank of the Israeli jazz scene. Eight musicians will take the stage for an evening of original compositions and new arrangements of jazz pieces. The audience will enjoy a rich, full sound, room for improvisation, and a chance for every player to express his personal style. Five horns — trumpet, trombone, and three saxophones — alongside flute, join the piano, upright bass, and drums. The expanded lineup allows for a blend of powerful collective playing and intimate musical encounters within the octet, creating rich harmonic layers, varied textures, and impressive solos. Kariv began his musical path studying classical piano, later turned to jazz, and completed his studies at The New School in New York. He has performed at leading jazz clubs, including Smalls and Mezzrow in New York and Duc des Lombards in Paris, and has collaborated with musicians such as Joe Magnarelli, Grant Stewart, and Pasquale Grasso. Octet members: Yiftach Kariv — piano, Asa Kook — trumpet, Oded Meir — trombone, Yonatan Cohen — alto saxophone and flute, Yuval Darbakin — tenor saxophone, Dror Ben Gur — baritone saxophone, Ram Erez — upright bass, Yonatan Rosen — drums.
