Few albums have changed the history of jazz. Time Out is one of them. When it was recorded in 1959, it was seen as a bold gamble: instead of sticking to familiar time signatures, the Dave Brubeck Quartet set out on a musical adventure, using meters such as 9/8 and 5/4 (not common in jazz at the time) to create a timeless classic. This album also gave birth to Take Five — the most famous and successful jazz track of all time. But anyone who knows only that track will discover, in this performance, an entire world: a continuous work full of unforgettable melodies, rhythmic sophistication, bursting energy and intimate moments that still sound fresh more than 65 years later.
