HaOrkestra – The Israeli Jazz Orchestra (20:30)

The Israeli Jazz Orchestra – HaOrkestra – returns to Shablul with the music it loves to play most: its own original work. An evening entirely devoted to the rich repertoire built over more than 20 years of activity, featuring contemporary jazz, funk, groove, and musical influences from around the world, all combining into the unique sound identified with the orchestra. The orchestra is a collective of 12 of the most prominent and active musicians in Israel, each of whom is also a soloist, composer, arranger, and creator in their own right. Unlike a traditional big band, over the years the orchestra has developed an original, contemporary musical language, based on Israeli composition, arrangements all written by the ensemble's own members, and captivating stage energy. Since its founding in 2003, under the artistic direction of Ron Almog and Yair Slutzki, the orchestra has become a central home for creators and performers, has appeared at festivals and prestigious venues in Israel and abroad, has released six acclaimed albums, and has collaborated with leading artists including Shalom Hanoch, Chava Alberstein, Yoni Rechter, Shem Tov Levy, Miri Mesika, HaDag Nahash, Hanan Ben Ari, and Avishai Cohen. In their performances at Shablul, they are happy to return to what they're most identified with – their own music, in an evening of musical richness, virtuosity, groove, and abundant joy of playing.
