Dead Poets Society at the Beit Lessin Theatre brings to the stage Tom Schulman's play, based on the screenplay he wrote for the well-known film starring Robin Williams. The production stars Yehezkel Lazarov and Tal Groshka, directed by Eldar Gohar Groisman. At a prestigious American boarding school, the students' path in life seems already set: excel, obey, and fulfill the expectations placed on them. A new literature teacher invites them to read differently, ask questions, and discover a voice of their own. The lessons open up possibilities the boys never knew, but also unsettle the order the school rests on. Their enthusiasm meets resistance from the parents and the teaching staff. The tension between loyalty to family and the wish to choose an independent path leads to a crisis that changes the lives of the students and the teacher. This is a drama about growing up, about freedom of thought, and about the price of stepping off a path set in advance.
