'Games in the Backyard' at Beit Lessin Theater is a drama by Edna Mazya, directed by Ido Rosenberg. The play deals with sexual violence, group pressure, and personal responsibility, and interweaves the events at the kibbutz with the trial that followed them. The play contains sexual violence. Latecomers will not be admitted. About the play: a meeting between a girl and a group of boys on the outskirts of the kibbutz ends in a gang rape. In court, the actions, choices, and explanations of those involved are re-examined. The shift between the encounter and the testimonies exposes the gap between the way the boys describe what happened and the harm done to the girl. The play was written following the rape case in Kibbutz Shomrat. Through the characters and the legal proceedings, Edna Mazya examines how social pressure and attempts to deflect responsibility shape attitudes toward sexual violence and toward those harmed by it.
