Original songs and surprising covers of well-known hits, from a unique feminine perspective. Laura Rivlin returns with a new, mesmerizing cabaret-style music show and brings it to Shablul for the first time, to present it in the intimacy of a small jazz club - the place that most naturally connects with the material being presented. In this show, Laura continues her collaboration with Nurit Zarchi, with her son, composer Shaul Bezer, and with Yami Wexler (of Habilluim), who together previously produced the successful show and album "A Woman Traveling". "Dazzling! The personal and the political, life and dreams set to melody... a one-time evening. A black pearl... excellent melodies - Shaul Bezer and the band - a celebration. There's never been anything like it" - Merav Yudilovitch, Ynet. "A wonderful performance... lyrics - pure poetry. Music, arrangements - a masterpiece in its own right" - Agi Mishol. "An upgraded cabaret... subtle and macabre humor" - Amos Oren, "Habama". "Wonderful! Rivlin reveals herself as a singer with a unique, powerful voice... personal, sharp and moving lyrics" - Yonatan Gat, Radio 103FM. Laura's lyrics - edited together with Nurit Zarchi - document moments of observation in short, seemingly simple pictures of life: of strangers on the street, at the sea or in a cafe - pictures whose innocent surface echoes anxieties, tensions and fateful events that remain only hinted at in the background. The title song "In a Strange City" describes a hope-inspiring yet hopeless encounter with an abandoned girl in a remote neighborhood, somewhere in the twilight zone of consciousness. The song "Man with His Back to the Sea" presents a man wandering lost on the seashore, searching for his wife. "First, Let's Go to the Pub" is a glimpse of a couple of strangers in a pub in Dublin, who may or may not have arrived there after harsh news. And cover versions of well-known songs: "Halayla" ("The Night") by Hakol Over Habibi, alongside classics like Zehava Ben's "Ahava Assura" ("Forbidden Love") and Meir Ariel's "Eich Lif'amim Ani" ("How Sometimes I"), in new interpretations that blend into the mysterious, enchanted world of the evening. Words and vocals: Laura Rivlin. Editing: Nurit Zarchi. Melodies, arrangements and keyboards: Shaul Bezer. Drums: Itai Nitzan. Bass: Adi Har Tzvi. Acoustic guitar and vocals: Alex Moshe. Artistic direction and electric guitar: Yami Wexler.
