Felder Big Band: A Tribute to Sinatra (20:30)

The doors, bar and restaurant open at 19:00. It's recommended to arrive as close as possible to doors-opening time. The veteran, excellent big band of Maestro Avraham Felder performs in an impressive multi-generational lineup, where the age gap between the seasoned musicians who haven't lost their touch (like Marton Kam and Nahum Parparkovich) and the talented, driven young players is more than 70(!) years. Felder and his musicians will salute the great Frank Sinatra in this show, and to that end will host singer Danny Sagiv, owner of a velvety baritone voice. Together they will fill the Shablul stage to capacity and sweep the audience away, as always, with embracing music. With a glass of wine from the bar, after the meal, there's no better way to celebrate the end of the holiday. Sinatra made his big breakthrough in the early 1940s as a soloist in the orchestras of Harry James and later Tommy Dorsey - two of the most prominent swing orchestras in the United States. It was precisely within that large orchestral framework that his unique vocal identity took shape. Later on, even after becoming an independent star, he kept working with first-rate arrangers and orchestras, including Nelson Riddle, Billy May and Gordon Jenkins. His albums from the 1950s and 1960s, regarded as milestones of American pop and jazz, were mostly recorded with big orchestras and reshaped the model of the singer fronting a big band. Many songs identified with him, such as I've Got You Under My Skin and Fly Me to the Moon, rest on complex orchestral arrangements in which the horn sections are a central part of the musical drama. Danny Sagiv will elegantly sing the great classics in the spirit of the era, backed by the rich orchestral arrangement, stepping into Sinatra's big shoes with ease and naturalness. Avraham Felder, who immigrated to Israel from the Soviet Union in 1976, founded the ensemble about twenty years ago. Over the years he has established himself as a trumpeter, arranger and conductor. Felder has taken part in international jazz festivals and won awards and honors. For more than 25 years he has led Tel Aviv-Jaffa's big band and Dixieland orchestras, mentoring generations of young musicians along their professional path.
