Blues & Booz and Rachel Selfin - Sukkot Blues Festival

The cult, electrifying band Blues & Booz takes the stage for the Blues Festival, this time joined by Rachel Selfin, a soul singer with a powerful voice and stage presence, remembered by Shablul audiences from her performances with Gal De Paz and Lazer Lloyd. Together they will perform classic blues as well as blues-rock and rock 'n' roll that grew out of the blues, in a show prepared especially for the festival. The quintet will showcase the deep connection between blues and rock: from B.B. King, Nina Simone and Aretha Franklin, through Janis Joplin to the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones — all of whom made music with blues as its DNA, and from that foundation went on to new directions that changed the face of popular music. Among the songs to be performed: The Thrill Is Gone, Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out, I Put a Spell on You, Backlash Blues, Since I've Been Loving You. For 14 years now, Blues & Booz have lived and breathed the sounds and spirit of the sixties and seventies. The band, which leads one of Tel Aviv's veteran live-music nights, is known for the devotion and authenticity with which it recreates the warm, raw, electric sound of the era, and performs regularly throughout the country in tribute shows to the giants of blues and rock 'n' roll.
