A new work, in world premiere, for the Israeli Flamenco Company. Following his successful collaboration with Michal Nathan on THISISPAIN, contemporary creator Hillel Kogan continues his adventures in the art of flamenco, commissioned by the Israeli Flamenco Company. Four dancers, the pillars of the company, meet on stage and invite the viewer to witness the birth of a dance. The audience is exposed to the working process: artist-laborers who create a collage from everything at hand – body, dance, texts, thoughts, childhood images, private and shared archives, sounds, songs and games. All of these serve as their raw materials, which they pour into the forms of traditional flamenco, creating a clash of flavors and worlds. Passion, drama, sanctity, purity and total devotion to precision – of an art demanding to the point of fanaticism – blend in an instant with the everyday, the random, the silly, the ironic, the chaotic, the license to disrupt, the right to fake it.
