Gates open: 19:30. Show begins: 20:30. "Diamonds" is a new stage encounter between singer-songwriter Aya Korem and choreographer Miriam Engel, together with JISDF artists from around the world and a live musical ensemble. Korem's songs open up into movement and imagery, in a gala concert of dance and music built as a single story. In "Diamonds," Miriam Engel creates a new stage arrangement of Aya Korem's musical world, together with the festival's artists from around the world. Korem's work carries a distinct Israeli voice, both in her original songs and in the arrangements and translations through which she gives texts and music new life and relevance for the here and now. Her body of work combines original writing and composition, arrangements and collaborations, and holds a dialogue with major creators, including Nathan Alterman and Leonard Cohen. Dance meets the songs through the culture, place, and artistic language each artist comes from, and the meeting between Korem's Israeli voice and the festival artists' different perspectives is woven into a live, virtuosic, multi-participant stage work. The closing evening is a festival tradition that has become a unique JISDF signature: each year Engel invites a celebrated Israeli musical creator to produce an original work together with the festival's artists, creating a new, one-time show out of the encounter. This year, the collaboration with Aya Korem brings to the stage an evening of music, dance, and storytelling, created entirely especially for the festival and for an audience of music and dance lovers alike.
