Birds of a Kind – a special event marking the 50th performance – a poetic political drama. By: Wajdi Mouawad Translation: Eli Bijaoui Directed by: Yair Sherman Set design: Roni Toren Costumes: Polina Adamov Music: Yechezkel Raz Lighting: Felice Ross Video: Nimrod Zin Sound: Nirel Sharon Featuring: Liora Rivlin, Avi Oria, Keren Tzur, Molly Shulman, Rama Nasrallah, Tal Grushka, Beni Elder, Zohar Meidan, Murad Hassan An innocent love story between a Jewish student of German descent and a beautiful student of Arab descent turns into a drama larger than life when the couple gets caught up in a terror attack in Israel. The young man's serious injury reunites him with his father, a former Israeli living in Germany, married to a German woman who converted to Judaism, and firmly opposed to his son's relationship. Until his son recovers, the father also has to contend with the troubled relationship between his mother and his own father, a terrible secret that caused him to leave the country and that is set to change the fate of this whole burdened family. A drama larger than life, which is also a magical, twist-filled journey in search of its characters' true identity, in a world where identity determines destinies — right up to a surprising ending that makes you believe in human brotherhood again. The play premiered in France, with Israeli and French actors. It has since been staged around the world and received wide media attention.
