Back to Shotei Hanevua (Prophecy's Fools) - Part of the Jerusalem East & West Orchestra's 26-27 season. Arrangements and musical direction: Tom Cohen. More than a quarter of a century ago, the debut album of "Shotei Hanevua" was released, marking a moment in time. It brought together styles that had never connected before, with lyrics that are still striking to read today. Caribbean reggae rhythms met lyrics about peace and good neighborliness here in the Middle East, Arabic music accompanied ideas of a renewing Judaism, and everyone who dove into it has kept a warm, fond spot for this album to this day. In this series, we invite the wonderful Avraham Tal, formerly of Shotei Hanevua, to take center stage for a full performance of this masterpiece album alongside some of his greatest solo hits. To complete the celebration, guitarist Ilan Bar Lavi will also join us, whose sound bridges all the styles and flavors moving between Mexico and Jerusalem.
