The show made the shortlist for the 2026 Golden Hedgehog Award. The Teacher (or: How I Got Fired from the Ministry of Education?) We're on bus number 2, on a journey to Poland. The audience is invited to put on the bus headphones and join a young teacher who made a decision that makes no sense at all: to spend a whole week in Poland surrounded by 37 hormonal seventeen-year-old students who don't know how to use deodorant. Yaakov the guide will whisper in our ear and tell us about the Jewish quarter of Kazimierz and about Umschlagplatz Square; water bottles will fall from the overhead compartments of the bus, the girls will sneak into the boys' rooms too late at night, and the boys will comfort the crying girls at a ceremony in Treblinka. But that's only the beginning. This journey is different, and it's about to get complicated. Buried layers of trauma threaten to surface at any moment, as one incident opens up everything everyone has repressed for far too long. This is not going to end well. "The Teacher" is a play that asks piercing questions about memory and repression, about education, about private trauma versus national trauma. An endless hall of mirrors of traumas that cannot be escaped. A binaural sound design creates a hyper-realistic soundscape - placing us at the heart of the story, inside the teacher's thoughts, and pulling us deeper into the trip as things get more complicated. And they do get complicated.
