Soul & Groove brings together guitarist Amos Hoffman and tenor saxophonist Asaf Yuria in a jazz quintet dedicated to the music of Wes Montgomery and Kenny Burrell. The program features pieces associated with the two guitarists who influenced Hoffman's musical path, alongside a repertoire of soul jazz. The guitar and saxophone stand at the front of the ensemble, with double bass, drums and congas behind them. Together they connect the swing and guitar sound of Montgomery and Burrell to soul jazz rhythms and to the meeting of the five musicians. Amos Hoffman and Asaf Yuria Amos Hoffman, guitarist, oud player and winner of the Landau Prize, has collaborated with Avishai Cohen, Jason Lindner and Lenny White. In this show he returns to the guitar and music of two of his sources of inspiration. Asaf Yuria studied at the New School in New York and played in Omer Avital's quintet. His album In Light of a New Moon was recorded at Van Gelder Studios with pianist George Cables and drummer Billy Hart.
