She doesn't understand why they're forcing her to grow up, why everyone makes such a fuss over the coming-of-age ceremony, and how she's supposed to get through it with a father who doesn't understand her, classmates who torment her, and a mother who passed away before she had the chance to get to know her. All this makes her lose her temper and resort to violence, and the school counselor identifies a behavioral problem in Caroline. Before the school decides to expel her, the counselor suggests to Caroline the option of joining a club that might help her — a club... karate. She decides to join the karate club, but there too she runs into kids who mock her and fight her mercilessly, and only Danny, the introverted boy in her class, teaches her that according to karate philosophy, every time you fall you have to get up and try again until you succeed. Caroline learns to love the fire in her head and give it positive expression. She excels in the karate club and achieves results no one expected — not her father, not the school counselor, and certainly not her. "Fire in the Head" is a personal, social drama about a teenage girl's stubborn struggle to channel herself toward positive places on the way to achievements and a new path.
