Doors and the restaurant open at 19:00. It's recommended to arrive close to doors opening. Nina Simone is known as the High Priestess of Soul, but if you listen closely, you'll find she was actually a classical pianist and a Baroque music lover. Simone grew up immersed in classical music. Her dream was to become the first Black concert pianist in the U.S., but a lack of funding kept her from finishing her studies at Juilliard. After taking time off to work and earn money, she auditioned for the Curtis Institute and was rejected, apparently for racist reasons. Forced to make a living, Simone turned to playing in bars and clubs, where she first began playing jazz standards and singing. Nani (Noam Vazana), a singer, trombonist and pianist who has lived in the Netherlands in recent years, presents a special show with a dazzling range of Nina Simone songs: Feeling Good, Four women, I wish I knew what it means to be free, Love me or leave me, I love you Porgy and many more, weaving together Simone's lyrical uniqueness with the roots of jazz and blues. Together with an Israeli super-group featuring Tamir Miller, Matan Yaakov and Roy Kimelman, they present a dazzling, thrilling and moving musical experience. In recent years Vazana has been taking the stages of the best festivals in European capitals, earning praise and a large fan base. Vazana won the Dutch SENA Awards 2019 and the Sephardic Music Award 2017, and the current album by the Beer Sheva-born singer-songwriter, Love Migration, reached the Top 20 on iTunes and won ACUM's Israeli Creation Fund award; it showcases Noam's charismatic voice and her virtuosic ability to play trombone and piano at the same time. Noam's stage presence is often compared to powerful female musicians, among them Nina Simone and Lizz Wright. Noam performs regularly at festivals around the world, including the Woman Festival Holon, the Sounds in the Desert Festival, the Jerusalem Piano Festival, TEDx Netherlands, the International Peace Conference Switzerland, Jazzahead Germany, Roccella Jazz Italy, North Sea Jazz Netherlands, Tanjazz Morocco, and many more. Yoav Kutner: You'll fall in love with Noam fast, just like I did De Volkskrant, NL: A must-see show! Allgemeine Zeitung, DE: Amazing, stunning, moving Tamir Miller: piano Matan Yaakov: bass Roy Kimelman: drums Nani: vocals, trombone, piano
