"Marzipans" - Habima Theatre

"Marzipans" is a bitter comedy by Maya Hefner, directed by Mor Frank and starring Lea Koenig. Ada, the widow of the esteemed theater figure Shmuel Hamarshalag, is busy preparing a festive tribute evening in his memory. But her excitement soon turns to worry when she discovers that financial troubles threaten the very existence of the event. Into her life walks Rachel Bloch, a former stage star who once had a romantic relationship with the deceased, offering to fund the entire evening — on one condition: that she stands center stage. Ada finds herself torn between her wish to save the event, and even shine in it herself, and the deep aversion she feels toward her longtime rival. In "Marzipans," the two divas engage in a merciless battle over the memory of the dead man, a struggle that reawakens all the secrets, wounds, and demons of the past. Camera and editing: Shir Mosan
