A new and exciting septet brings back to the stage the sounds and energy of 1940s jazz. The ensemble operates as a musical collective led by guitarist, singer and arranger Gil Lavie, with each member bringing their own personal voice to the shared creation. The septet's members are teachers at the Israeli Conservatory of Music and among the leading musicians on the local jazz scene. The repertoire ranges from bebop to the music that preceded it, drawing inspiration from the worlds of Frank Sinatra and Tommy Dorsey, Cab Calloway, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell and Barry Harris. Alongside instrumental pieces, the septet also incorporates vocal jazz, in the spirit of the era and with a contemporary interpretation by the ensemble's members.
