And I Sing — a play featuring the songs of Shlomi Shabat. Omer loves to sing more than anything. At the family falafel stand, "Benny and Sons," he sings, tosses falafel balls in the air, and warms his customers' hearts — but deep down, he dreams of performing on a truly big stage. When he hears about the auditions for the city's youth band, he feels this is the chance he's been waiting for, and that his dream has never been closer. But reality is one thing, and dreams are another. The fear of losing this opportunity and the burning desire to succeed lead him to hide a significant part of his identity, and he spirals into a series of wrong decisions that complicate his life and hurt the people dearest to him. The play deals with the conflict between pursuing a personal dream and family responsibility, and asks: what is true success? Through music, mistakes and love, Omer learns that real talent begins with honesty, and that together any obstacle can be overcome. A play featuring the beloved songs of ACUM Prize winner, singer-songwriter Shlomi Shabat — "Let Them Grow Up in Peace," "And I Sing," "Because of the Wind," "Abba" and other hits — songs that have accompanied us for years, moving, comforting and joyful, crossing ages, sectors and identities, and uniting us all in one exciting shared Israeli musical experience.
