A café on the Tel Aviv seafront. Yaakov Berner, an ordinary, unremarkable man, is looking over the menu while waiting for a woman he arranged to meet. Suddenly the café owner appears beside him, introducing himself as Alex Herzer, and tries every way he can to strike up a conversation against Yaakov's wishes. What begins as a chance exchange slowly unfolds into a dark and mysterious psychological thriller, as Alex shares key turning points from his life and reveals a tragic story that may affect Yaakov's own life. The play "Hot Bagel" sets out to explore questions of reward and punishment, guilt and forgiveness, regret and taking responsibility. Through what seems like a chance meeting, the two characters go on a turbulent, twist-filled journey to an unforeseen ending.
