Featuring: Dudu Niv (Uncle Vanya), Anna Dobrovitsky (Yelena), Uri Levanon (Astrov), Gad Kainer Kissinger (the Professor), Dima Ross (Waffles), Sonia Tsunvazo (Sonya) On a forgotten estate, where for years routine work and unseen devotion have ruled, the rhythm of life suddenly changes: the elderly professor arrives with his young wife, and the familiar world is shaken. Everything long kept in the heart and left unsaid bursts out; the characters confront their disappointment and the question they never dared to ask: what is left for me? Anton Chekhov, one of the most influential voices in modern drama, knew how to depict, gently and precisely, the human pain between dream and reality. The play was published in 1897, and two years later was staged at the Moscow Art Theatre, directed by Konstantin Stanislavski (who also played the role of Astrov). Over the years the play has received many productions in Israel and around the world. In the current production we chose to illuminate the characters in a contemporary light, where daily routine merges with unfulfilled dreams and a new hope emerging from the dust. Running time: about 2 hours and 20 minutes, including intermission.
