Latecomers will not be admitted — let the good soul of Szechwan bloom anew: a poetic, humor-filled musical theater production inspired by the grand whims of Bertolt Brecht. Three gods, weary of human chaos, descend to earth in search of the one truly rare find: a pure, kind-hearted person. In the depths of the city of Szechwan they meet Shen Teh, a good-hearted prostitute with a heart of gold, who miraculously opens the door of her modest home and shows them unexpected generosity. In return, the gods grant her a sum of money that changes her fate and lets her dare to dream of a new chapter in her life. But the world, with its harshness and demands, upends the cards. When a good heart collides with uncompromising reality, it turns out that noble virtue doesn't always pay off — and is sometimes even dangerous. To survive the storms of daily life, Shen Teh creates a new face for herself: she takes on the identity of a tough cousin named Shui Ta, a fearless character capable of doing what Shen Teh herself dares not do. Along the way, as she meets a melancholic pilot who draws her into a world of dreams and questions of fate, an inner rift deepens — between truth and appearance, good and evil, hope and fear. And the play asks clearly: can one truly preserve purity of heart in a world that rewards power and self-interest? And if so — what price must be paid? A gripping, unsettling, and at times funny work that brings to the stage a vivid adaptation of Brecht's original — a text written elsewhere, in another time, yet still speaking to us here and now about being human, about existence, and about grappling with the duality within us.
