Play: Shlomit Arnon Bar-Lev, Liat Fishman-Lani. Director: Amit Epstein. "World Champion" tells the story of a youth band in crisis. Rehearsals are faltering, the members can't get along, and the band is struggling to get off the ground and find its way forward. They're desperately looking for someone to write them new songs — someone to reignite the spark that has almost gone out. Everything changes when Tom, a new boy, joins the band. It quickly turns out he's an especially talented songwriter, and the musical creativity starts flowing. The band slowly gets back on track, and hope is reawakened. But Tom is hiding a big secret — one connected to his twin sister Shira, a sensitive, hard-of-hearing girl who holds a deep and meaningful place in his life. The secret threatens to unravel everything Tom has built, forcing him to confront his fears, his identity, and the question of who he really is. Through this journey, the musical "World Champion" explores the search for an inner, authentic voice, and our shared ability to create, to hold space for one another, and to live together — despite our differences — in harmony. Hanan Ben Ari's songs give the show emotional depth and a compassionate view of the individual and of society as a whole. They remind us that courage, sensitivity, and self-acceptance are keys to growth, and that when we learn to face our fears, anyone can be a world champion.
