A sharp, intimate dramatic work examining the meeting point between memory, trauma and art. The show is presented as an adaptation for two actors, embodying the charged dynamic between Shmulik and Herman — a predatory, bewitching figure on one hand, and a figure seeking recognition on the other. Being Giovanni moves between years and times: Milan of the 1980s and 90s, childhood memories at the Heichal HaTarbut cultural center in Tel Aviv, and a present-day lecture hall where Shmulik — now a lecturer on post-trauma — is once again overwhelmed by a past that will not let go. Through scenes full of cruel humor, deconstructed operatic music and uncompromising human closeness, the play reveals a complex journey of influence, longing, dependency and liberation. The stage presents a vivid, piercing encounter between two actors examining the boundary between memory and reality, between power and tenderness, and between inner "cleanliness" and what has been absorbed too deeply to be erased. Being Giovanni dares to look at the human power of teacher-student relationships and the question: can one truly break free from the voice of the past that still echoes within us? An exciting emotional journey — funny, painful and life-affirming — one that stays with you long after the lights go down. The play, by Shaul Kontini, is directed by Kirill Levman, who has collaborated with Niko Nitai Theater for many years.
