'Reserved Places' is an original play by Eitan Aner, staged by the Beer Sheva Theatre. A new Israeli tragicomedy — funny to the point of tears and touching to the depths of the soul — about a woman who launches a battle for a burial plot, but unexpectedly rediscovers her taste for life. Hana, a sixty-year-old religious widow from Ramat Gan, is shocked to learn that a mysterious stranger has already been buried in the plot meant for her future grave beside her late husband. Determined to find out who this woman is and to reclaim the place where she planned to spend eternity, Hana launches her own investigation. But it soon becomes clear that, without meaning to, she has stirred up a real storm. Now the Hevra Kadisha (burial society), the community and even her own family are all set against her. The only person able to help her uncover the stranger's secret is a retired lawyer named Hana — an Arab Christian, a widower from Jaffa, who happens to walk into her photo studio and agrees to join the search. Together, Hana and Hana set off on a journey that helps them both understand: life goes on, even when it seems that everything is already behind you.
