The Jerusalem Opera, in collaboration with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, is delighted to stage 'The Magic Flute' once again - one of the pinnacles of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's work, which we first staged in 2017 to great success. We now return to present the work with the same stage concept, and invite you to experience once more the magic, beauty, and wisdom of this wonderful masterpiece. The opera was written in Vienna in 1791, with a libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder, and has two acts. Prince Tamino is sent to rescue Princess Pamina, who was cruelly abducted from her mother, the Queen of the Night, by the evil Sarastro. But it gradually becomes clear that reality is completely different: Sarastro is not the villain, but rather the one who protects the princess from her vengeful and violent mother. So Tamino and Pamina set out on a journey in which they learn to look at the world from a new angle, overcome fears and obstacles, and discover the strength within them. It is a coming-of-age journey of courage, loyalty, restraint, and maturity, at the end of which the heroes become worthy of love. This magnificent and unique work combines a rich artistic tradition with symbols that express Mozart's worldview and his belief in brotherhood and closeness among people. It is a work with beautiful music, an imaginative fairy tale, moving drama, and ideas of human wisdom, love, courage, and maturity. Artists. Musical director and conductor: Omer Arieli.
