The eternal classic of ballet — "Sleeping Beauty" — in the version of the "Russian Ballet" Theatre, directed by Vyacheslav Gordeyev — comes to Israel in the autumn 2026 season, to the delight of all ballet lovers. The ballet "Sleeping Beauty" is considered an encyclopedia of classical dance. This magical story, based on the famous tale by Charles Perrault, has not left the stages of the world's leading theatres for more than a hundred years, since the brilliant historic premiere directed by Marius Petipa, held in 1890 on the stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. Tchaikovsky's musical genius, Marius Petipa's brilliant choreography, and the dramatic libretto dealing with the power of true love and loyalty, in the eternal struggle between good and evil — together created an unforgettable masterpiece. A work that captures our hearts and makes us want to enjoy it again and again, even when we already know every twist in the plot and every note of the music. The "Russian Ballet" Theatre presents the ballet "Sleeping Beauty" directed and magnificently adapted by People's Artist of the Soviet Union Vyacheslav Gordeyev, based on the original libretto by Ivan Vsevolozhsky and Marius Petipa. For this extraordinary production, Gordeyev was awarded the prestigious prize of the Western European Impresarios Association for "the most grandiose production of the year 2000"! Set to Tchaikovsky's timeless music and Marius Petipa's magnificent choreography, this production combines the magic of classical Russian ballet with lavish sets, costumes adorned with gold details, and virtuosic performances by dancers from the theatre's first cast. Gordeyev the choreographer won the hearts and earned the respect of international ballet critics. In 1992, following a spectacular European tour by the theatre, he was awarded the prestigious title "Choreographer of the Year," and afterward — a special prize from Maurice Béjart himself!
