Adar Yosha, composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist, comes to Shablul for the first time leading an impressive octet of some of the country's finest jazz musicians. A graduate of the Jazz Institute for Excellence in Jazz at Rimon and the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, Yosha is a fresh, intriguing voice on the local jazz scene. Her varied musical influences and broad training come together into a personal language that moves along the seam between jazz and classical music, combining softness and sensitivity with sophistication and sharpness. The choice to lead an octet - five wind instruments alongside piano, double bass and drums - lets Yosha unfold a rich, multi-layered musical world that moves between the freedom and intimacy of jazz and broad orchestral thinking. In the show the ensemble will perform original works of her own alongside new arrangements of well-known jazz pieces.
