Rhinoceros — the renowned classic play by the genius of the absurd, in an updated and daring version. A mysterious herd of rhinoceroses attacks a peaceful town. The town's stunned residents at first try to ignore the threat, but the anxiety over their fate intensifies, driving them to willingly turn into rhinoceroses themselves. The play's hero, a young man named Bérenger, does everything in his power to keep his close friends and his beloved from joining the herd of rhinoceroses — but is it possible to remain human at a time of extreme threat? And at what cost? Ionesco's famous parable takes on a breathtakingly relevant meaning in light of today's reality. This interpretation by Yair Sherman — resident director of the Beit Lessin Theatre named after Baruch Ivcher, who directed the acclaimed productions "Hamlet," "Hedda Gabler" and "Antigone" — joins the ranks of great directors for whom this play posed an artistic challenge.
