Set off on a captivating musical journey with the brilliant Austrian jazz guitarist John Arman, who presents an unexpected reading and refined jazz interpretations of the immortal compositions of this groundbreaking album. Rubber Soul — the sixth studio album by The Beatles, rightly considered one of the most important milestones in the history of popular music. It marked the band's transition from a commercially successful, singles-oriented pop and rock-and-roll group to mature artistic rock, where the album came to be seen as a whole conceptual work. On Rubber Soul the musicians drew for the first time so vividly on folk-rock and soul, and on the track Norwegian Wood they first used the Indian sitar. The lyrics became far deeper, more personal and more philosophical; songs like Nowhere Man and In My Life address self-doubt, memory and nostalgia. John Arman (b. 1986) spent part of his childhood and youth in England. He honed his craft under the legendary Pat Martino, as well as Peter O'Mara and Dave Stryker. He has performed with such jazz masters as Vincent Herring, Jeremy Pelt, Harry Sokal and Jesse Davis, released two of his own albums and is considered one of the leading representatives of the new generation of European jazz. Today he lives in Vienna and teaches jazz guitar at the Tyrolean State Conservatory in Innsbruck.
