During what starts as just another ordinary evening of drinking and bickering at the Straton couple's neighborhood pub, the patrons learn of a raging storm threatening to destroy the city. The threat of death unites them and blurs class differences, old rivalries, and past grievances. For the first time, glimpses of humanity and compassion are revealed. Once the danger passes, the characters' true nature is exposed, with all its cruelty, pettiness, and hypocrisy.
