Lavia, widowed just a year ago, celebrates her 92nd birthday surrounded by her family — along with her curious neighbor, who misses nothing of what happens around her. The celebration takes an unexpected turn when Doron, her only son, gives her an extraordinary gift: a luxurious penthouse in an assisted-living residence near his home. What looks to him like a convenient, caring solution is seen very differently by his independent mother. The gift sparks a family conflict and brings to the surface tensions, fears, and unspoken expectations. Lavia, unwilling to let others decide how she should live, makes a far-reaching decision that changes her life and the lives of those close to her. "Shalom Bayit" is a sharp, wild, and moving family comedy about parents and children, age and independence, and a person's right to choose their own path at every stage of life. Written by: Gilad Shmueli. Directed by: Shir Goldberg. Set design: Alexandra Nardi. Costumes: Orna Smorgonsky. Music: Daniel Salomon. Lighting: Amir Castro. Dramaturgy: Shachar Pinkas, Tom Chodorov. Assistant director: Ruti Gefen. Featuring: Rivka Michaeli / Miriam Zohar, Moti Katz, Dorit Lev Ari, Gilad Shmueli, Moran Arviv Ganes, Nadav Asulin / Oria Yablonovsky.
