An extraordinary, multi-dimensional musical evening awaits the audience at an artistic summit meeting, in which Maestro Gil Shohat hosts international cellist Kristina Kupper. The concert, marked by rich sonorities and a unique instrumental combination, puts two grand pianos and the Polyphonia Ensemble at the center of the stage, providing an impressive harmonic backdrop for the evening's works. Alongside Shohat, pianist Michael Zaretzky will perform, and together they will present fiery virtuosity and a captivating musical dialogue. The artistic program moves between refined French classicism and Russian drama and American jazz. At the heart of the evening will be the Cello Concerto by Saint-Saëns, a demanding and moving work that lets Kristina Kupper showcase her virtuosic abilities and the cello's warm, deep tone. Alongside this, movements from the Suite for Two Pianos by Sergei Rachmaninoff will be performed, a work that exploits the full potential of the two instruments to create a tremendous, emotion-filled sonic mass. The evening will close with songs from the masterful opera "Porgy and Bess" by George Gershwin. The arrangements for two pianos, cello and string instruments give Gershwin's musical gems a fresh interpretation, blending classical language with the distinct flavor of Broadway. This is a concert that promises an immersive experience, in which the precise combination of styles and first-rate artists creates a whole greater than the sum of its parts, leaving listeners with a true sense of artistic uplift. Featuring: Kristina Kupper: international American cellist. Michael Zaretzky: virtuoso pianist. Polyphonia Ensemble. Gil Shohat: arranger, host, pianist, musical director and conductor.
