The St. Petersburg Boris Eifman Academic Ballet Theater presents in Israel a new production, 'Red Giselle.' The premiere of the new version of the ballet 'Red Giselle' took place on August 26, 2025. 'Red Giselle' tells the story of the fate of the Russian ballerina Olga Spessivtseva. Almost three decades after the premiere, Eifman 're-composed' 'Red Giselle,' significantly changing its choreographic score. The set design of the famous production was also refined; in its modernized form it vividly reflects the expressive possibilities of contemporary stage art. Boris Eifman turns 80 this year. The theater he founded in 1977 in Leningrad has existed for nearly half a century — and throughout all these years it has remained his personal project in the literal sense: Eifman stages the works himself, works with the company, and reworks old productions. This is a rarity in the world of academic ballet. 'Red Giselle.' A ballet by Boris Eifman to music by P. I. Tchaikovsky, A. Schnittke, G. Bizet. Designer: Vyacheslav Okunev. Light: Gleb Filshtinsky, Boris Eifman. Age category: 12+.
