The old miller sets out on a long journey and leaves each of his three sons a gift: to the eldest son, the flour mill; to the second son, a horse and cart; and to Ferdinand, the youngest son, an especially surprising gift — a cat. Ferdinand is disappointed, but soon discovers that this is no ordinary cat but "Chelbeleh, the Cat in Magic Boots," who leads him on a special journey of self-discovery. Along the way, Ferdinand learns that the real wonder isn't outward magic, but something found in every heart — the ability to face our fears and believe in ourselves, so that even a menacing dragon can become a small mouse we can defeat.
