An autobiographical musical comedy about one woman's journey all the way from Pisgat Ze'ev to the summit – winner of the Best Actress award at the 2025 Israeli Comedy Festival. An entertaining, fast-paced, witty and heartfelt evening from a captivating performer and gifted musician. Pure enjoyment! Yair Ashkenazi, Kan Tarbut: Esther succeeds in combining joie de vivre with emotional depth, entertainment with thought, comedy with music, creating a full and meaningful theatrical experience. Aviva Rosen, a pleasant pastime: Not every day do they search for "Ofra Haza." Usually they're looking for a "Liza," a "Jenny," or a "Masha." This is Esther's chance. This is the first audition where her curls are an asset, not a liability. In the waiting room, 900 dark-haired, curly girls are already waiting, in floral dresses and copper earrings. From the stage you can hear a rendition of "Along the Sea." And then another rendition of "Along the Sea." 40 renditions in a row. "Along the Sea." The things people do for a role. And there's that voice from childhood whispering "you belong there…", and a tailwind pushing toward an army entertainment troupe, toward stardom, toward relocating abroad, toward having children, toward fleeing wars, or toward being Yulia. Something keeps calling, and still it doesn't happen. And it will all happen any moment now, and in the end it's still the same Esther, in a living room in Pisgat Ze'ev, trying to make her father laugh. Premiered at the 2025 Ephraim Kishon Israeli Comedy Festival.
