On the roof of an ancient monastery in Jaffa, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the lights of Tel Aviv, the songs of two of the most beloved creators and singers in world music will be heard — Elton John and Billy Joel. That evening the stage will be lit by hundreds of candles. Instead of a traditional concert hall, the concert will take place under the open sky, facing the sea and among ancient stone walls. Tomer Hesek and his band will perform Your Song, Rocket Man, and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road — among the biggest hits of Elton John, which have long since become classics of world music. Imagine Candle in the Wind ringing out between the ancient stone walls, as hundreds of candles flicker around you. Under the night sky of Jaffa, the songs we all know and love will come to life. A night of ballads and romance awaits you, with Tomer's impressive voice and piano sounds filling the air. The evening will continue with the music of Billy Joel, featuring She's Always a Woman, Just the Way You Are, New York State of Mind, and of course — Piano Man. The Artists: Vocals — Tomer Hesek An Israeli singer, conductor, and composer. He holds a doctorate in music, is a graduate of Beit Zvi, and is a soloist and conductor of leading ensembles in Israel. Jazz Band — SymFunny Orchestra A jazz ensemble of musicians from the SymFunny Orchestra project — musicians with academic training and experience on the stages of leading theaters and philharmonics in Israel, alongside musicians active in the country's contemporary music scene. Please note: the concert takes place in an open-air venue on the grounds of an ancient monastery by the sea. Evenings by the sea can be cool, so we recommend bringing a light scarf or something warm in case of cool weather. Also note that there is no bar or café on the monastery grounds. Entrance to the monastery is from the Jaffa promenade side, not through the Old City. See you among the candles, the music, and the sea of the evening!
