* The performance uses a stage prop resembling a cigarette. A story about freedom that begins at home, and about the few who dare to peek out the window and dream of a different life. By Federico García Lorca, produced by Gesher Theatre. When Bernarda's husband dies, she declares eight years of mourning and locks her five daughters inside the house. In the name of morality, honor and family unity, the house that was supposed to protect them becomes a prison. Violence disguises itself as order, and oppression as protection from the terror of the outside world — but not all the daughters are willing to accept this. Federico García Lorca was considered a dangerous figure because of his liberal views, his criticism of the regime, and being homosexual. The play "The House of Bernarda Alba" was written in 1936; two months later its author was executed, and his burial place remains unknown. The play premiered only in 1945 and has since become a world classic. Starring: Efrat Ben-Tzur, Michal Weinberg / Irit Bendak, Tali Osdachi, Karin Seroya / Carmel Kandel, Nicole Podbilni, Ofir Zweigenbaum, Noa Carmi, Lillian Sheli Ruth. * Russian subtitles.
