Winner of the "Actress of the Year" award at the 2024 Golden Hedgehog Awards. If we dig through history, we find that humanity developed, advanced, split apart, and fought - all around shit. Starting with the invention of the toilet in the 16th century, when we began storing our waste inside our homes, a clear separation emerged between the private and the public. And once everyone keeps their own shit to themselves, language too undergoes a purification process - one that censors how we express ourselves, suppresses honesty inward, and forces constipation upon us. But why, really? What would happen if we dared to share and open up about our unfiltered content? Hiding away the shit, as if it were gold to be locked in a safe, resembles the language-purification of political-correctness advocates - a kind of sewage-treatment plant for the stream of consciousness. In both cases, the liberated, the natural, and the wild undergo a castrating, civilizing refinement that subdues them. But the act of hiding only amplifies the questions rising from the gut - what's allowed and what's forbidden, who is the censor and why? How did the natural become obscene? And what is the possibility of redemption through shit? Erga Shem Tov (Rotem Nachmani) invites you to Deep Shit - a workshop performance for releasing hidden sediment and energetic blockages, accompanied by live singing, guitar, and a loop pedal. In the workshop we'll try to answer the burning, pressing questions, and learn to identify and release the unrefined in ourselves and in those around us. We'll practice guided relaxation and bring about a healthy release that looks with compassion straight into the black hole of all our humanity. Together we'll experience a renewed connection to our body's hidden work - the constant production of shit - until we reach inner peace. "I'm grateful for the poop in my life, I feel compassion for it and learn from it anew every morning." / E. Shem Tov. The piece draws inspiration from the philosopher Dominique Laporte, who wrote the wonderful book History of Shit. Creation and performance: Rotem Nachmani. Direction: Assaf Moshe. Artistic accompaniment: Idit Herman. Original texts and music: Yoni Tal. Photography: Inbar Shapira. Special thanks to Ilon Perry and Shoko.
