The Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion opens the season with a program linking a world premiere of a new Israeli work to one of the masterpieces of the Romantic era. The concert is conducted by Dan Ettinger. "Achlam" (Dreams) by Ella Milch-Sheriff is a new work for two women's voices and symphony orchestra. The text, by Orit Fox-Rotem, is taken from the screenplay of the film "Cinema Sabaya." The work is sung in Hebrew, Arabic, Persian, and Yemeni, linking voices, languages, and musical traditions from the Middle East. The world premiere will be performed by Shani Oshri and Rona Shirira. Alongside it, Hector Berlioz's "Symphonie Fantastique" will be performed, written in 1830, which became a milestone in the development of program music. Using the orchestra alone, Berlioz portrays a dramatic story of an artist whose unrequited love leads him into a world of visions, dreams, and nightmares. Conductor: Dan Ettinger. Soprano: Shani Oshri. Contralto: Rona Shirira. Composer of "Achlam": Ella Milch-Sheriff. Text: Orit Fox-Rotem, from the screenplay of the film "Cinema Sabaya."
