Doors open at 19:00. Arriving close to doors-open is recommended. "Aharale Kaminsky Hosts" happens at the start of every month, and this many-years-long tradition will continue as part of the Sukkot Blues Festival too. Kaminsky and his guests will play from the best of the blues repertoire. Two of the important cornerstones of jazz are the blues and the music played in African-American community churches, such as gospel and spiritual songs accompanied by organ. Taking on the organ role is Yonatan Riklis, the master of the organ in Israeli jazz. Gil Livne will bring the vocals and the guitar sounds characteristic of the blues. Jess Koren will add deep, gritty jazz color on tenor saxophone. Ram Erez will surprise with solo parts, this time on cello! (with the organ playing the bass lines). And Aharale will supply the groove on drums. Kaminsky is one of the founding fathers of Israeli jazz. For more than six decades he has stood at the heart of the local jazz scene — as a drummer, as a bandleader, as a teacher, and as someone who was a partner and artistic director of the Barbarim club, where the Israeli jazz scene of that era took place, and who has shaped generations of musicians. For Kaminsky, as for all the greats of jazz, the blues is an integral part of their musical world and a source of inspiration they always return to.
