The uncompromising struggle between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart — a young, charismatic and rebellious genius — and Antonio Salieri, a court composer with a name and respect behind him. Salieri senses that Mozart's youthful talent threatens his position and his future. Consumed by envy, he stops at nothing to hold back his rival's brilliant rise. But can an untamable gift be stopped? Envy drives Salieri to madness, and the confrontation between the two composers takes on tragic proportions — becoming a parable about the tension between generations and the price of success. Peter Shaffer's famous play, which conquered theatres all over the world and was turned into a cult, Oscar-winning film, returns in a new production.
